He says: We ask your Eminence for the names of beneficial books that strengthen our religion and enable us to preserve it. May Allah reward you with good.
Answer: There are many books, but the greatest, most noble, most truthful, and most beneficial of them is the Book of Allah, the great Qur'an. We advise everyone to turn to the Book of Allah; it is the best book and the most truthful book. It contains guidance to all good, direction to the causes of salvation and happiness, and warning against the causes of destruction.
So we advise you, O questioner, and all Muslim men and women, to take care of the great Qur'an and turn to it, to recite it frequently, reflect on its meanings, and act upon its commands and prohibitions. It is the Book of Allah, containing guidance and light. [Surah Fussilat: 42] Allah says in it : [Surah al-Isra: 9] And He, the Exalted, says: [Surah Sad: 29] And He, the Exalted, says: [Surah al-An'am: 155] This great book contains guidance and light, guidance to all good, and warning against all evil. So the advice to every Muslim man and woman is to take care of the Qur'an, recite it frequently, and memorize it if that is possible, for it is the source of all good and the spring of all good.
Then the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), such as al-Bukhari and Muslim. One should read them frequently, reflect on the meanings of the hadiths, and review the words of the scholars in their interpretation and explanation. Then the four Sunan: Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah. These books are among the best books after the two Sahihs. Taking care of them and benefiting from them is very important for students of knowledge. Benefiting from the four Sunan, taking care of them, and reviewing them frequently, all of this contains great good. Then the books of the scholars, such as Zad al-Ma'ad by Ibn al-Qayyim on the guidance of the best of creation, and such as the Fatawa of Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. And in matters of creed: Fath al-Mujid, an explanation of Kitab al-Tawhid; such as the collection of Kitab al-Tawhid; such as Taysir al-Aziz al-Hamid by Shaykh Sulayman ibn 'Abd Allah, an explanation of Kitab al-Tawhid; such as Kitab al-Tawhid itself; such as Kashf al-Shubuhat; the Three Principles; the Al-Wasitiyyah Creed by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah; the al-Tadmuriyyah and the al-Humawiyyah, both by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah. These are beneficial, great, and useful books. And such as Sharh al-Tahawiyyah by Ibn Abi al-'Izz, which is also a beneficial book on creed. Such al-Muntaqa in hadith; Bulugh al-Maram in hadith; the first is by al-Majd Ibn Taymiyyah and the second by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar. These books are also beneficial. Yes.
