Question:
The first message in this episode is from one of the female listeners from Ras Tanura. She says: I hope you will present my following question to His Eminence Shaykh: Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz (may Allah preserve him). In her message—which is somewhat lengthy—she says: I have been married to a man for twenty-six years, and I have had two sons and four daughters from him. We spent ten years in perfect harmony, but after that, I began to notice a change in my husband’s eye, which made me afraid of it, and I dislike this appearance and cannot bear it. When he enters the house, I see as if there is fire in his eyes, which makes me unable to be in his company, walk with him, or sit with him because of the fear that overcomes me when I see him; for he is in an abnormal state as I observe in his eyes. My brother took me to Jeddah to be treated there, fearing that I might be ill, but I am not ill. I went to my family’s home four times for this reason, and they sent me back to him. After that, I took one of the daughters and went to Riyadh, rented a house, and lived there. Then my family came and took me back to my husband’s house in the Eastern Province. I was also accused of having memory loss, but I am fine, praise be to Allah. My brother said that I have a split personality and that I am insane. So I ask, out of your noble character, that you kindly guide me on how to act so that I can return to my marital life as it was? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: What I see in such a case is to present the condition to someone you think has expertise in this psychological illness that has befallen you, so that he may find a treatment for it. This is a psychological illness that should be presented to doctors who treat the mind, i.e., doctors of psychological illnesses, so that he may find a cure for you.
And among the things that treat such a condition is:
Attending to the Noble Qur’an by blowing into your hands when you go to sleep. You blow into your hands when you go to sleep, reciting (Say: He is Allah, the One) and the two chapters of seeking refuge three times when you go to sleep, and you wipe with that over the front of your body, the head and face, and the front of the body three times when you go to sleep.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do this when he was afflicted with something, may Allah’s prayers and blessings be upon him, along with seeking refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, in the morning and in the evening, three times.
And likewise, in the name of Allah, by which nothing on earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, three times, in the morning and in the evening.
And reciting the Verse of the Throne when you go to sleep. All of this is among the causes of health and safety.
And likewise, reciting the Verse of the Throne after every prayer.
And reciting
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قل هو الله أحد
[Al-Ikhlas 112:1]
and the two chapters of seeking refuge after every prayer, along with repeating the three chapters after Maghrib and Fajr three times.
All of this is a treatment for this illness, if Allah wills; because there may be something, either the evil eye or something else from the bad deeds of some of your enemies, you and your husband.
So the point is: that there may be a work that has changed the appearance of your husband in your eyes and in your meeting with him, from the work of some corrupters or the evil eye, which is the gaze they call the gaze. This may be the case, and this may be the case. So if you do what has been mentioned of recitation and seeking refuge, there is no harm, and we hope for your recovery. And if you present yourself to some doctors of the mind, men or women, and inform them of the reality, perhaps they have some treatment. We ask Allah for your recovery and health.
As for what concerns the dispute and litigation, that is with the court if there is a dispute other than this illness. That is with the court. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. It seems that the dispute or disagreement is due to this condition?
The Shaykh: That is what appears, and the change that happened to her in her perception of her husband may be something real, or it may be something only in her eye. And Allah knows best, Glorified and Exalted is He. Yes.
The presenter: Your Eminence! Let us assume that the husband is listening to us now. Is there a word for the husband and the woman in this recent condition?
The Shaykh: We advise the husband to care for her with good methods, kind words, and appropriate speech, and to make du'a. Each of them should ask Allah to remove what has happened. She asks her Lord that Allah heal her from what has befallen her, and the husband likewise asks Allah to heal him from what has happened and to heal her from what has happened. He asks his Lord that Allah heal him from what has happened if there is something, and he asks his Lord for her as well that Allah heal her and grant her health from what has befallen her.
Supplication is the believer's weapon, and Allah the Exalted says:
Call upon Me; I will respond to you.ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ
[Ghafir:60] So we advise both of them to ask Allah for well-being and healing from what has happened, and that Allah will restore the situation to its original good state; He is the One capable of all things . Yes.
The presenter: Your Eminence! The patient may not be good at treating herself. Do you advise her to have some people read over her or prescribe some appropriate prescriptions for her?
The Shaykh: No, she reads if she can read, or her husband reads for her, or her brother or her father or a righteous woman reads and blows over her. Good. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
