Treatment of the fear of falling under the effect of sorcery

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Shaykh Abdul Aziz, I have two letters in front of me:
The first is from our brother Abu Muhammad from the city of Jeddah, and the second is from Rajal Al-Ma' and its sender is our brother Muhammad Ahmad.
These two brothers sent two letters, each containing a complaint about a medical condition. Brother Abu Muhammad says that his wife was afflicted with a specific illness and became afraid of everything and unable to stay alone. As for our brother from Rajal Al-Ma', he complains of the same condition to the extent that he cannot go to the mosque to pray with the congregation. They ask for a treatment that Your Eminence deems appropriate so that they do not resort to those who personify matters, or perhaps resort to a fortune-teller or a sorcerer?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows: Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, has not sent down a disease except that He has sent down a cure for it; He has given knowledge of it to those He has given knowledge and kept it hidden from those He has kept it hidden from. And Allah has placed in what His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought of good, guidance, and treatment for all that people complain of, whether physical or spiritual illnesses, what Allah has benefited His servants with, and what good has been attained thereby that none can count except Allah, Mighty and Majestic. A person may be exposed to matters that have causes, and he may experience fear and panic for which he does not know a clear cause.
So Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, has placed in what He prescribed through the tongue of His Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) of good, safety, and healing, what none can count except He, Glorified and Exalted is He. So my advice to these two is that they should utilize what Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, has prescribed of the lawful recitations, and among that is:
Reciting the Verse of the Throne after every prayer when one has said the closing salam, and performing the lawful dhikr, reciting the Verse of the Throne between himself and himself
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
[Al-Baqarah: 255]. This is the Verse of the Throne, and it is the greatest verse in the Book of Allah and the best verse in the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, because of what it contains of the great tawhid (oneness of Allah), sincerity to Allah, and the explanation of His greatness, Glorified and Exalted is He, and that He is the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and that He is the Owner of everything and that nothing is too difficult for Him, Glorified and Exalted is He. If one recites this verse after every prayer, it is among the causes of well-being and safety from all evil.
And likewise, reciting it when sleeping. If one recites it when sleeping, it has come in the authentic hadith:
That he will not cease to have a protector from Allah, and no Shaytan will approach him until he becomes a believer.
So let him recite it when sleeping and let him be at ease, and let there be nothing in his heart of fear or panic, but rather let him know that what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said is the truth and that it is the truth in which there is no doubt.
And among what Allah has prescribed for this meaning is that one should recite (Say: He is Allah, the One) and the two chapters of seeking refuge (al-Mu'awwidhatayn) after every prayer. These are also among the causes of well-being, safety, and healing from all evil. (Say: He is Allah, the One) is equal to one-third of the Qur'an, and (Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the Daybreak) is recited with it, and (Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind) is recited with it. These three chapters are recited once after the Zuhr prayer, once after the 'Asr prayer, and once after the 'Isha' prayer. As for after the Maghrib and after the Fajr, they are recited three times. After the Maghrib at the beginning of the night, and after the Fajr at the beginning of the day, these chapters are recited three times, as the hadiths have come from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So they are among the causes of well-being and safety from all evil.
And among what brings about safety, well-being, tranquility, and protection from all evil is that one should seek refuge with the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created, three times in the morning and three times in the evening: "I seek refuge with the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created." The hadiths have come from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) indicating that this is among the causes of well-being from all evil
I take refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created
Sunan Abi Dawud 3898Sahih (Al-Albani)
Three times in the morning and three times in the evening.
And likewise
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'a ismihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim
Sunan Ibn Majah 3869
Three times in the morning and three times in the evening. This is also among the causes of well-being from all evil. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed that whoever says it three times, no calamity or any harm will harm him.
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'a ismihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim
Sunan Ibn Majah 3869
Three times.
So these dhikr from the Qur'an and from what the Sunnah has brought are all among the causes of protection, safety, and security. The believer should perform them and whatever is easy for him, while being at ease and having trust in his Lord, and that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the Sustainer of everything and the Disposer of everything, and in His hand is the control, giving, withholding, harm, and benefit. He is the Sustainer of everything and the Owner of everything, Glorified and Exalted is He. And He is the All-Able of everything, Exalted and Majestic is He.
And His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is the most truthful of people, so he does not speak from desire; it is nothing but a revelation that is revealed, as Allah said :
By the star when it descends,
[An-Najm 53:1]
Your companion has not gone astray, nor has he erred [Al-Najm: 1-2]. "Your companion" means: Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He addresses the community
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed
[Al-Najm: 2] meaning: O people of the community of Muhammad
Nor is he a deviator
[Al-Najm: 2].
So the one who is astray is the ignorant one, and the one who errs is the one who acts contrary to knowledge. So he is not ignorant and not one who contradicts what he knows, but rather he knows and acts, (peace and blessings be upon him). So he is guided and not astray; he is on the guidance of his Lord. And he is, with that, a knower and an actor. Allah has taught him from His knowledge what He willed of the Book and the Sunnah, and he acts upon what he knows. For this reason, He said:
Your companion [Muhammad] has not strayed, nor has he erred,
[Al-Najm: 2]. This is unlike the one who turns away from knowledge, for he is astray, like the Christians and their like from the ignorant ones, for they are astray. And they and their like from the disbelievers are in His saying:
And not the astray
[Al-Fatihah: 7]. They are the Christians and their like from the ignorant ones who turn away from the truth. And unlike the one who knows and does not act; this one is called one who errs, and he is the one upon whom is the anger. They are the Jews and their like. They knew the truth but they rebelled and disbelieved and did not submit to what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, and they did not believe in him out of stubbornness, tyranny, and preferring the worldly life over the Hereafter, and desire over guidance. For this reason, Allah became angry with them, and they became among the owners of error, misguidance, and distance from guidance. So they are astray because of their ignorance and turning away from the truth, and they are the ones upon whom is the anger and who err because they knew the truth with which Allah sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), so they deviated from it and rebelled out of arrogance, tyranny, envy, and preferring the worldly life over the Hereafter.
For this reason, it has come in the authentic hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "In the interpretation of the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.
[Al-Fatihah: 7]. He said regarding (those upon whom is the anger): they are the Jews, and regarding (those who are astray): they are the Christians." Meaning: and their like. His intention (peace and blessings be upon him) is that these are the heads of misguidance, error, and anger, and those who follow their path and adopt their characteristics. So whoever turns away from guidance from any category of people is astray, and whoever contradicts knowledge and follows desire is the one who errs, upon whom is the anger. We ask Allah for well-being. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. This is a weapon that you describe, Your Eminence, for every believer.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The presenter: Do you stipulate other conditions for the one who carries this weapon?

The Shaykh: Yes, among the greatest conditions is trust in Allah and belief in His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and that Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, is the One who speaks the truth and His Messenger conveys the truth, and he is truthful in what he says, (peace and blessings be upon him).
And among the conditions: that one should do this out of faith and out of desire for what is with Allah, and out of trust in Allah, and out of faith that He, Glorified and Exalted is He, is the Manager of affairs and the Disposer of things, and that He is the All-Able of everything, Glorified and Exalted is He. Not out of doubt or bad opinion, but out of good opinion of Allah and trust in Him, Glorified and Exalted is He, and belief in His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). And that whenever the desired outcome is delayed, it is delayed for a cause among the causes. The servant must perform the causes, and Allah is the Causer of the causes, Glorified and Exalted is He.
And the medicine may be present and the cure may be obtained, but the disease does not go away for other reasons that the servant is ignorant of, and Allah has wisdom in it, Glorified and Exalted is He. And this includes physical and spiritual medicine. The physical is what doctors do, such as drinking, eating, performing operations, and the like. And the spiritual is what is obtained through supplication, recitation, and the like. All of this may have its desired outcome and intended purpose delayed for many reasons. So Allah, Exalted and Majestic is He, is the All-Knowing of them, Glorified and Exalted is He. And some of them may be known to the created beings due to their lack of certainty and lack of trust in what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought, or for other reasons that stood between the effect of what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) brought and its requirement. They stood between what Allah and His Messenger said and the required outcome of that, for reasons that the servant did, such as sins, disbelief in Allah , bad opinion of Allah, and other such reasons that the servant may commit, which become a cause for him being deprived of the good that came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). There is no power and no strength except with Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good. Is this for the one who has been afflicted, or for the one who has not yet been afflicted, Your Eminence?

The Shaykh: This is a weapon by which treatment is obtained and protection is achieved. It is a cure for what has already occurred and a cure for what has not yet occurred. Likewise, the prescribed and physical medicines: some are a cure for existing diseases and ailments, and some are a protection against them and a cause of health from them. Indeed, these things that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned contain both protection and treatment. A person may take medicines for protection and may take medicines for treatment, and these that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned contain both: they contain protection and they contain treatment.
And of this is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever takes seven dates from the dates of Madinah in the morning, neither sorcery nor poison will harm himمن تصبح بسبع تمرات من تمر المدينة لم يضره سحر ولا سم
This is from the category of protection. Muslim narrated it in the Sahih with the wording:
Whoever takes in the morning seven dates from what is between its two banks—meaning: Madinah—no sorcery or poison will harm him.
And in another wording:
Whoever eats seven dates in the morning from the Ajwa of Madinah
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:525
meaning: the dates of Madinah.
The point is that this is from the category of protection, and it is hoped that the rest of the dates will also benefit by it, because the substance is similar. However, the dates of Madinah have a specificity in this, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) explicitly stated regarding protection from sorcery and poisons. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
