What brings one closer to Paradise and what distances one from the Fire

Answer: The actions and deeds that bring one closer to Paradise are obedience to Allah and His Messenger. Everything that Allah and His Messenger have commanded, and what Allah has prescribed, brings one closer to Paradise. This includes voluntary and obligatory prayer, voluntary and obligatory fasting, voluntary and obligatory Hajj, voluntary and obligatory charity, frequent remembrance of Allah, glorification (tasbih), and the declaration of His oneness (tahlil), calling people to Allah, teaching people what is good, visiting the sick, enjoining good, forbidding evil, and reciting the Qur'an. All of these are among the causes of entering Paradise and bring one closer to it. All sins distance one from Paradise and bring one closer to the Fire. We ask Allah for well-being. Examples include backbiting, talebearing, being lazy about praying in congregation and praying at home instead, shaving the beard, letting the mustache grow long, and letting garments hang below the ankles.
