The Ruling on Praying for One Who Died as an Intoxicant Addict

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After this, a message was received for the program from Libya, sent by the listener, according to the messenger, Fuzari from Libya. He says: I ask your Eminence about one who died while drinking intoxicants; is the funeral prayer performed for him? We ask that you advise us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
Yes, the sinner is prayed for. If he is a Muslim, then the funeral prayer is performed for him. So if he was a drinker of intoxicants, or undutiful to his parents, or one who severs family ties, or one who engages in some usury or interest, or something similar to that from the sins.
As for if he is a disbeliever, by being one who abandons the ritual prayer, or one who insults the religion, or one who is known for something from the causes of apostasy, from the nullifiers of Islam, then the funeral prayer is not performed for him.
As for sin, it does not prevent the funeral prayer from being performed for him. The funeral prayer is performed for him even if he is a sinner. He is washed, shrouded, and the funeral prayer is performed for him, and supplication is made for him for forgiveness and mercy, whether he was a drinker of intoxicants or had another sin, but he was not a disbeliever. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
