Q 3: When I sit for the tashahhud, before anything else, I say "I seek forgiveness from Allah" three times. Is this valid?
A 3: What you are doing, which is seeking forgiveness three times before the tashahhud in the prayer, is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis. Seeking forgiveness three times is only prescribed after the taslim, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do so after the taslim. However, supplication and seeking forgiveness are prescribed after reciting the final tashahhud and before the taslim. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
