A Question on Wudu
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The brother B. S. Q. from Syria says in his question: I follow the Shafi'i Imam. Is it valid for me to follow Imam Abu Hanifah in wudu, meaning: do I apply wudu according to both the Shafi'i and Abu Hanifah schools? We ask for a prompt fatwa.
Answer:
You must ask the people of knowledge about the manner of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) wudu and act accordingly, based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [Al-Nisa:59], and His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) : [Al-Ahzab:21]. If you are a student of knowledge, review the books of hadith, such as al-Muntaqa, Bulugh al-Maram, or 'Umdat al-Hadith, so that you may know the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and act upon it in prayer, wudu, and other matters. If a matter is unclear to you, ask the people of knowledge in your country or elsewhere whom you know for their knowledge, virtue, and pursuit of the truth about what is unclear to you; based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) : [An-Nahl:43]. May Allah guide you and me to beneficial knowledge and acting upon it, for He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the One who grants success.

You must ask the people of knowledge about the manner of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) wudu and act accordingly, based on the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
obey Allah and obey the Messenger
أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَThere has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern
لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌSo ask the people of the message if you do not know.
فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ
