Presence of the heart in prayer is a cause of humility

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: When I stand before Allah in prayer, thoughts and whispers come to mind. Is my prayer valid with these thoughts? What should I do to make these dark thoughts go away? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You must strive to bring your heart to presence before Allah, and to be conscious that you are before Allah, and that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is watching you and seeing your place, until you become humble before Allah and the whispers move away from you. If they become frequent, seek refuge in Allah from Satan and spit to your left three times, and say: “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan” three times. These whispers will disappear, if Allah wills; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised some of the Companions to do so.
But you must strive to bring your heart to presence before Allah, and to be aware that you are before Allah, and that Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) is looking at you and seeing your place, as in the authentic hadith:
Ihsan is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you do not achieve this state of devotion, then (take it for granted that) Allah sees you.الإحسان أن تعبد الله كأنك تراه فإن لم تكن تراه فإنه يراك
Sahih al-Bukhari 4777
.
So be aware of this greatness and this seeing, and that He (Glorified and Exalted is He) sees you and knows your state. So be humble before Allah, and beware of the whispers. This is among the causes of your safety from the whispers.
But if they remain and do not go away; then seek refuge in Allah from Satan, even in prayer, and spit to your left three times, and say: “I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan” three times, and these whispers will disappear, if Allah wills.
