What is the advice for achieving khushu' in prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Many young people pray, but their hearts are not present in the prayer; they become distracted from their prayer. What is your advice to these young people so that their prayer is complete?

Answer:
It is obligatory for the believer to devote himself to his prayer, and to remember that he is in the presence of Allah, and that he is conversing with Allah, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When any one of you stands in prayerإذا قام أحدُكم في الصلاة فإنه يُناجي الله
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1191Hasan (Darussalam)
. So, O Abdullah, you are conversing with your Lord in prayer, and standing before Him, so it is fitting for you to devote yourself to your prayer, to cast your gaze toward the places of your prostration, and to feel in your heart that you are in the presence of the Great, Majestic Allah, until you become humble before Him, at peace with Him, and you magnify His Book and His worship.
And beware of your enemy, Shaytan. If this enemy overcomes you, spit to your left three times and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan," three times. Uthman ibn Abi al-As al-Thaqafi complained to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Shaytan has confused my prayer for me." He said to him:
Spit to your left three times and say: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytanانفث عن يسارك ثلاث مرات وقل: أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم
. He did that, and Allah cured him.
If this enemy overcomes you while you are in prayer, spit to your left three times and say: "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan," and it will not harm you. This is a great Prophetic remedy, and it is a sound hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrated by Imam Ahmad and others.
Q: Is this spitting done in every prayer?
The Shaykh: If he is overcome by waswas (whispers), if he feels the whispers and they increase for him; there is no harm.
