The Woman's Obligation Toward Her Husband Who Consumes Intoxicants
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from the sender, Suhayla 'Abd al-Majid, who says: I am married and have four children, and I am very happy with my husband. However, my husband is the type who takes a drink on some days, and I am unable to prevent him from doing so. Despite this, his character is good with people, but I fear Allah, and I do not want my husband to do what Allah has forbidden. You, O honorable Shaykh, I hope you will guide us to what is good and benefit us; may Allah reward you and may you be rewarded for us with good?
Answer: The one who drinks from among the spouses must be advised and warned of Allah , and the bad outcome of what he did must be made clear to him, for khamr (intoxicants) is among the greatest of major sins, and it is established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):, so it is a vile thing that deprives people of their minds and causes great corruption in society and in families, and it is also established from him (peace be upon him) that he said: .
So you, O sister in Allah! Advise him and speak to him often about this matter. Also, if you contact someone who is important to him and respected by him, such as his father or his uncle or the like, and if they know his condition, they should advise him often, perhaps Allah will guide him. As for the marriage, it is not invalidated by this; the marriage is valid and you are his wife, even if he is disobedient. However, you have the right to annul the marriage if he persists in this evil. You have the right to contact the court, and the court will annul the marriage because this is a defect, and its danger is great for the wife and for the family. So if the wife's husband persists in drinking an intoxicant, she has the right to demand the annulment of the marriage, and the court will annul her marriage if this is established with them. We ask Allah for guidance for everyone. Yes.

That he cursed the intoxicant, the one who drinks it, the one who serves it, the one who carries it, the one to whom it is carried, the one who presses it, the one who is pressed, the one who sells it, the one who buys it, and the one who eats its price
أنه لعن الخمر، وشاربها، وساقيها، وحاملها والمحمولة إليه، وعاصرها ومعتصرها، وبايعها ومشتريها، وآكل ثمنهاThat Allah has a covenant with the one who dies while drinking intoxicants that He will make him drink from the mud of Khabal. It was said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the mud of Khabal? He said: The juice of the people of the Fire, or he said: The sweat of the people of the Fire
إن على الله عهداً لمن مات وهو يشرب الخمر أن يسقيه من طينة الخبال قيل: يا رسول الله! وما طينة الخبال؟ قال: عصارة أهل النار، أو قال: عرق أهل النارSo you, O sister in Allah!
