Ruling on one whose menses come a short time before sunset

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The listener who sent (M. J. B.) from Jeddah says: I am a twenty-year-old girl, and the pains of my monthly period come to me in Ramadan before the midday prayer to the extent that I cannot stand for prayer, and even while sitting I cannot pray. My period does not come except five minutes before the call to the sunset prayer, knowing that I remain fasting throughout the day. Is it permissible for me to make up this day, or am I considered to have fasted?
Answer: If the menses descend and the blood comes out before the sun sets, then consider yourself to have broken your fast, and you must make up this day. As for the pain before that, it does not invalidate the fast; the pain near the coming of the blood does not invalidate the fast. If the pain continues with you but nothing comes out until the sun has set, then the fast is valid and you do not make up this day. However, if the blood comes out before the sun sets, even by five minutes, then this day is invalid and it is obligatory for you to make it up. This is the legal ruling as far as we know. As for the pains, they have a medicine and a treatment; you should ask the female doctors and physicians about them, perhaps you will find with them something that relieves you from this pain that you feel. Yes...
