The Ruling on Taking Blood: Does It Carry the Rulings of Breast Milk in Breastfeeding?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
This is a message we received from the listener Ali Jaber from Iraq. He says in his message: I was admitted to the hospital and needed blood, so I received blood from one of my female neighbors. Is it permissible for me to marry this girl? Thank you.
Answer: Taking blood from any woman does not make her forbidden; it does not make her forbidden to the one who takes the blood. No, blood is not like breastfeeding. So you may take blood from so-and-so or so-and-so, and she will not be your mother, nor will she be forbidden to you. Likewise, if you take blood from Zayd or 'Amr, he will not be your brother or your father through breastfeeding. The result is that blood has no status that makes it of the same kind as breastfeeding. Rather, there is no blame in taking blood when there is a need or dire necessity for it, and it does not become forbidden to you. Nor is the daughter of the person from whom you took blood forbidden to you, nor her sister, nor anyone else. Likewise, if a woman gives blood to you, she does not become your mother, nor is she forbidden to you. Yes.
