Question:
Following this, a message reached the program from one of the listening brothers. The sender (S. A.) asks and says: I hope you will be kind enough to explain the saying of Allah the Exalted:
[They are] avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, [O Muhammad], judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them - never will they harm you at all. And if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
[Al-Ma'idah: 42].

Answer:
This noble verse describes a group of the Jews as being listeners to lies and devourers of unlawful gain, meaning: they incline toward the liars and accept the words of the liars, and with this, they eat what is forbidden. Al-suhth is the forbidden, such as riba and others. This is a description of many of the Jews, the Jews upon whom the anger of Allah has fallen; this is their description. Allah the Exalted said:
(160) For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their averting from the way of Allah many [people], (161) And [for] their taking of usury while they had been forbidden from it, and their consuming of the people's wealth unjustly.
[Al-Nisa: 160-161]. So listening to lies is acting upon lies, inclining to them, and executing them. We ask Allah for safety. And despite that, they eat al-suhth, meaning: they eat what is forbidden. The Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was given the choice, when they came to him to judge between them, or to turn away from them, if they reached him to seek his judgment; he was given the choice between judging between them or leaving them and turning away from them. And if he judged, it is obligatory that he judge with justice, meaning: with the truth. Then Allah commanded him to judge between them, saying:
And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed
[Al-Ma'idah: 49]. So the matter settled on the fact that whenever they came to him and sought his judgment, he would judge between them with the truth, whether they were Jews, or Christians, or others of the disbelievers. If they come to the Shari'ah judge in dispute, he judges between them with the truth, as He said -Exalted and Majestic is He-:
And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed
[Al-Ma'idah: 49].
So it is obligatory to judge between them with justice, which is the truth, in accordance with the other verses. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
