The Ruling on Eating Fox Meat

Question:
He says: The people of our village eat fox meat. Is its meat lawful or forbidden?

Answer:
This is one of the issues that have been mentioned previously regarding which the scholars disagreed. The text indicates the prohibition of the fox, so it is not permissible for anyone to permit it for people or to sell it to people. Likewise, the domestic cat that roams around is forbidden; because they are all among those with fangs.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: So it is a predator. The cat is a predator, the fox is a predator, the wolf is a predator, and the dog is a predator. All of it is forbidden. No one is allowed to eat it, nor to sell it. So the cat is not sold, nor the dog, nor the wolf. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the price of the cat and the price of the dog, and the wolf is even more so. The lion is likewise. All these predators are not sold and are not lawful; rather, they are forbidden. So the fox is among them. The fox is among the forbidden predators. It hunts birds and devours them. Yes.
