Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
He also asks and says: Is fox meat forbidden, or is it lawful?
Answer:
There is scholarly disagreement regarding the fox, and the correct view is that it is forbidden; because it is a predator, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1933a and he prohibited every animal with fangs, and it is one of the predators that hunts birds, chickens, and similar small animals, which the fox preys upon.
Likewise, the domestic cat is forbidden; because it also hunts. The rule is as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1933a And likewise, every bird of prey with talons that hunts, such as the eagle, the goshawk, the falcon, the hobby, and the like. These birds that have talons with which they hunt are forbidden to eat, just as the predators that hunt, such as the wolf, the lion, the tiger, the cheetah, the dog, and the like. Yes.
