The Matter of the Day of Resurrection and the Terror of the Hour

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The Shaykh: There is approximately seven minutes left in this episode. I ask you to please use this time to answer the sisters' question regarding the interpretation of the saying of the Truthful One (Blessed and Exalted is He):
But the Hour is their appointment [for due punishment], and the Hour is more disastrous and more bitter.
[Surah al-Qamar: 46] and His saying, the Exalted:
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?
[Al-A'raf 7:187]
In what are you from its remembrance? To your Lord is its end.You are only a warner to whoever fears it.As if they, on the day they see it, had not stayed except an evening or a morning.[Surah al-Naziat: 45-46].

Answer:
This indicates the greatness of the matter on the Day of Resurrection, and that it is more severe and more terrible than what occurs in this world. The event of the Hour is immense, and its terror is great. Therefore, He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -
[An-Nazi'at:34] He called it: a calamity, and He said:
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
[Abasa:33] and He said:
Has there come to you the news of the Overwhelming?
[Al-Ghashiyah:1] He said:
When the Occurrence occurs,
[Al-Waqi'ah:1] He said:
The Inevitable Event
[Al-Haqqah:1-2]:
The Deafening Sound
[Al-Qari'ah:1-2] All of this is the Day of Resurrection, and no one knows when it will occur except Allah He is the One who knows when it will occur. And when it occurs, people will then see this world as nothing,
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
[An-Nazi'at:46] as if they had stayed only a moment of the day; because of the greatness of the terror.
The point is: The Hour is a matter of great magnitude, and its affair is severe. Therefore, it is obligatory for all those who are accountable, both men and women, to prepare for this day and to beware of heedlessness. It is a great and dangerous day. He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said about it:
Has the news of the Overwhelming come to you?
Faces, on that Day, will be humble,Working and weary,Burning in a scorching Fire.[al-Ghashiyah:1-4] They are working without guidance, working without guidance without sincerity to Allah, or without following the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), so for them is the Fire on the Day of Resurrection. He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -
[An-Nazi'at 79:34]
The Day man will remember what he has striven forAnd Hellfire will be brought forth for whoever sees itAs for he who transgressedAnd preferred the life of this worldThen indeed, Hellfire is his refuge[al-Nazi'at:34-39] Transgressed means: he exceeded the limits, meaning: he did not adhere to the command of Allah, but rather he transgressed the limits, so for him is the Fire on the Day of Resurrection.
And in the verse of 'Abasa
But when there comes the Deafening Blast
['Abasa 80:33]
The Day man will flee from his brotherAnd his mother and his fatherAnd his wife and his childrenFor every one of them, on that Day, there will be a matter sufficient to occupy him[Surat 'Abasa: 34-37]
So the sensible person prepares for this great day and does not be lax. This is by obeying Allah and standing firm on His command, and by being cautious of His prohibitions, while standing by His limits. This is the path, and this is the way that Allah has made a cause for salvation on the Day of Resurrection. And let one beware of heedlessness regarding this great day, following the desires, and obeying Satan, for in this lies the wretched outcome and the bad end. There is no power and no strength except by Allah. We ask Allah for guidance for everyone.
