The ruling on one who prayed while in a state of major ritual impurity due to ignorance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner (A. N.) from Riyadh says: My first case is as follows: She recalls that she is a young married woman with two children—praise be to Allah for that—and says: The problem, O Shaykh, is that during the early days of my marriage, I did not perform the full ritual bath to remove major ritual impurity because of ignorance; for I thought that the full ritual bath was specific to men only, not women. When I learned that a woman is obligated to perform the full ritual bath, I regretted greatly what had happened due to my ignorance. I do not know now how many prayers I was praying while in a state of major ritual impurity. I remained in that state for approximately two months. What is required of me, O Shaykh, regarding those prayers?

Answer:
Nothing is required of you except repentance. Repentance wipes out what came before it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Islam wipes out what came before it, and repentance wipes out what came before itالإسلام يجب ما قبله، والتوبة تجب ما كان قبلها
And praise be to Allah. If you make up the prayers based on your estimate, that is good and fine, as a way of avoiding scholarly disagreement. If you make up what you think you prayed while in a state of major ritual impurity, that is good, in the sense of avoiding disagreement. Otherwise, repentance benefits you, and repentance is sufficient for you. Praise be to Allah, because of your ignorance and your lack of concern in asking. You have been negligent and have done wrong, so you must repent to Allah. Leaving off the prayer is disbelief, and the repentance of a disbeliever is sufficient. If a disbeliever repents, he owes no making up of prayers. We ask Allah for safety. Yes. The ruling on one who prays while in a state of major ritual impurity is the same as the ruling on one who does not pray. We ask Allah for well-being. Yes.

The presenter: We ask Allah for well-being.
