The Ruling on a Woman Lengthening Her Nails

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Finally, our sister from Jeddah asks: What is the ruling on a woman lengthening her nails, given that she prays and performs all her obligatory duties?

Answer:
Lengthening the nails is prohibited for both men and women alike. A woman is not permitted to lengthen her nails, nor is a man permitted to lengthen his nails. The limit in this matter is forty nights. Anything beyond this; it is obligatory for her to cut her nails, and for the man as well, to trim his nails, and for the man as well.
Likewise, plucking the armpit hair, shaving the pubic hair, and trimming the mustache: Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "We were given a time limit for trimming the mustache, cutting the nails, plucking the armpit hair, and shaving the pubic hair, not to leave it for more than forty nights." Muslim narrated it in his Sahih. The meaning of "We were given a time limit" is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set the time limit. This also came in the narrations of Ahmad, al-Nasa'i, and a group of others:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)وقت لنا رسول الله ﷺ
Sunan Abi Dawud 4200Sahih (Al-Albani)

Therefore, it is obligatory for men and women not to lengthen their nails beyond this period. As for within this period or less, the matter is broad, but they should not exceed the forty days, neither in the nails, nor in the armpit, nor in the pubic area, and so for the man in the mustache. May Allah guide them all. Yes.
