Question:
The Shaykh, this questioner from the northern highlands asks in this question: Why did Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) undertake to preserve the Noble Qur'an, while He did not do so for the other books revealed to the messengers? Please guide us in light of this question?
Answer:
He has the perfect wisdom, and perhaps among the reasons is that the other books were followed by books that clarified what people distorted and changed. As for the Qur’an, there is no revelation after it; the revelation has ceased. So it was a mercy from Allah that He preserved it, preserving the Sunnah and the Qur’an; because there is no new prophet coming to clarify for us what people have erred in. So it was a mercy from Allah that He preserved the Qur’an and the Sunnah for the Ummah of Muhammad.
As for those who came before Muhammad, every prophet was followed by a prophet, and messengers who clarified what the Ummah of the previous messenger had erred in, and what they had distorted and changed. For this reason, the Qur’an and the Sunnah clarified what the People of the Book distorted in the Torah and the Gospel, and in their laws. As for Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), he is the final one; there is no prophet after him. So it was a mercy from Allah that He preserved His Book, and preserved the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). Yes.
