The ruling on a woman who threatens to kill herself if her husband marries a second wife

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner—may the Shaykh be respected—Dala' from Yemen says in this question: A woman does not bear children, and her husband wants to marry another woman for this reason. This wife said: If he marries another, she will kill herself. We want your eminence to guide this woman and explain to her the wisdom behind plural marriage?

Answer:
It is not permissible for her to kill herself; this is a great evil, and it is ignorance on her part. He has the right to marry a second, third, or fourth wife. Allah the Exalted says:
then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or fourفَانكِحُوا مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ مَثْنَى وَثُلاثَ وَرُبَاعَ
[Surat al-Nisa: 3]. The Lawgiver wants the Muslim community to strive for the chastity of their private parts and to increase their offspring so that the community that worships Allah and obeys Him increases. The one who does not bear children has been afflicted with a great defect, and the matter is up to Allah. Allah is Wise and All-Knowing. She should have patience, be content with the decree, and ask her Lord for well-being and that Allah grant her offspring. She asks her Lord... she may seek treatment, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, her husband has no objection to marrying in order to seek offspring. If she kills herself, she will go to the Fire... Allah has threatened her with the Fire.
Her husband is not obligated to obey her. He has the right to marry even if she kills herself. The sin is upon her, and the harm is upon her. One who kills herself is threatened by Allah with the Fire. We seek refuge in Allah. Yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good, O His Eminence the Shaykh.
