The ruling on zakah for money that has been lent out

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: I gave a person fifty thousand riyals for investment, and this was the first time I had dealt with him, so I was not sure whether I would get this money back or not. The money remained with him for two years, and then I took it back from him without any increase or decrease. Do I have to pay zakah for the previous two years, or do I start a new year with it?

Answer:
You must pay its zakah for the two years; because it is in your ownership, and it is with him like a trust; because he did not do anything with it; so it is like a trust, but you must pay its zakah, yes. As for if he worked with it and it profited; you must pay its zakah, and the zakah of the profit, but as long as it remained with him, and he did not do anything; it is like a deposit, you pay its zakah, yes.

The presenter : May Allah reward you with good.
