Paying zakah on the full amount of wealth a person possesses
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20572 )
Q: The Zakat and Income Authority takes a fixed amount of zakah from me, while my son has other income. Their assessment of what I own is less than what they take zakah on, and I pay zakah in addition to what they take from me. But should I count the zakah taken by the Zakat and Income Authority as part of my general zakah, or not?
A : The zakah paid to the Zakat Authority, which is authorized by the one in authority, is considered sufficient, and the payer is not required to pay zakah again if he has paid the full amount of zakah. Otherwise, he must pay the remaining amount in its lawful channels, and his obligation is not discharged except by doing so. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
