If the people knew what is in the call, what is the meaning of the call?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
After that, we move on to the message from the questioner (Fahd M.) from Riyadh. He says regarding this hadith: Your Eminence! The hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) is the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him):
If the people knew what (virtue) there is in the call to prayer and the first row, and they had no other way but to draw lots concerning them, they would draw lots.لو يعلم الناس ما في النداء، والصف الأول، ثم لم يجدوا إلا أن يستهموا عليه لاستهموا عليه
Sunan an-Nasa'i 671Sahih (Darussalam)
What is the meaning of the call mentioned in the hadith? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The call is the adhan. That is to say, if they knew what merit is in it, they would draw lots for it; they would cast lots, meaning each person would say: I am the one who will call to prayer, let me call to prayer, because of the great merit in it. For it calls out to the people to the oneness of Allah, His glorification, and His magnification, and it invites to prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The longest-necked people on the Day of Resurrection are the mu'adhdhins.أطول الناس أعناقًا يوم القيامة المؤذنون
They testify to Allah’s oneness and to His Prophet’s message, and they call the people to prayer and success. So it is a great remembrance in the presence of all witnesses.
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
for whoever hears the Adhan, whether a human being, a jinn or any other creature, will be a witness for you on the Day of Resurrectionلا يسمع مدى صوت المؤذن شجر، ولا حجر، ولا شيء إلا شهد له يوم القيامة
Sahih al-Bukhari 609
It is a great merit. So if the people... this merit, and they kept it in mind, they would draw lots, they would cast lots, meaning each person would say: I am the one who will call to prayer, until they would need to cast lots so that the one whose lot is drawn would call to prayer, because of the intensity of their desire. But most of creation do not have insight, nor do they strive for virtues. But if the people knew this merit, were certain of it, and had a desire for good, they would draw lots for it. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, Your Eminence. Does this not include responding to the call, which is going to the prayer place and hastening? Does it not also include the preference?

The Shaykh: This is in the category of hastening to prayer. This is in the category of hastening to prayer and racing to it, just as He (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
Race to forgiveness from your Lordسَابِقُوا إِلَى مَغْفِرَةٍ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ
[Al-Hadid: 21] ..
And hastenوَسَارِعُوا
[Al-Imran: 133] ..
So race to do good deedsفَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ
[Al-Ma'idah: 48] This is in the category of hastening to good deeds and racing to... But
If people knew what was in the adhan and the first row of the prayerلو يعلم الناس ما في النداء، والصف الأول
Muwatta Malik 3:3
its intent is regarding the call; one strives for the call.
As for the first row, it means hastening to prayer so that one is in the first row, meaning one hastens so as to win the first row. But if one is late, one may not get anything but the second row, or the third, or... if the mosque is large and there are many people. But what is related to the adhan means that they compete in it, so that each person says: Let me be the one who calls to prayer, and they may need to cast lots. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.
