The Use of Taps and Vessels Coated with Gold Leaf

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: There are some villas (houses) that have taps and household vessels coated with gold leaf; is it forbidden to acquire and use them? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you.

A: If it is known that they are coated with gold or silver, it is not permissible to use them; because of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
The one who drinks from a silver vessel is swallowing Hell-fire into his belly.الذي يشرب في إناء الذهب والفضة إنما يجرجر في بطنه نار جهنم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3413Sahih (Darussalam)
reported by Muslim in his Sahih, and because of his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Do not drink from vessels of gold or silver, and do not eat from their plates, for they are for them in this world.لا تشربوا في آنية الذهب والفضة ولا تأكلوا في صحافهما فإنها لهم في الدنيا
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 47:36
— meaning the disbelievers —
And for you in the Hereafterولكم في الآخرة
agreed upon as authentic.
And because of the extravagance and waste involved in it.
We ask Allah to guide the Muslims to what is in their well-being and safety from all evil, for He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.
