What are the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) before and after the midday prayer, and the voluntary prayer before the afternoon prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We return at the beginning of this episode to a message we received from the city of al-Muraj in Libya, sent by one of the female listeners there named Nuwarah Salim Muhammad. We presented some of her questions in a previous episode, and here in this episode we resume presenting her questions. She asks this question and says: It is established from the Master of the Messengers, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah have mercy upon a man who prays four before Al-Asr.
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 430Hasan (Darussalam)
And Allah has forbidden the Fire for a man who prays four before the midday prayer and four after the midday prayer.
, or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said. Are these eight rak'ahs, which are before the midday prayer and after it, the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib)? And are the four rak'ahs before the afternoon prayer those that are prayed after hearing the call to prayer and before the obligatory prayer? Or are they prayed before all of that? I hope you will inform us of this. May Allah reward you.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows:
The four rak'ahs before the afternoon prayer are prayed after the time has entered, based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
May Allah mercy on a person who prays four Rak'at before the 'Asr prayer.
Bulugh al-Maram 2:263
. The apparent meaning of the hadith is that they are before it, meaning: after the time has entered. These are not regular voluntary prayers (rawatib), but they are prescribed; because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged them and prayed for the one who performs them. So they are a recommended practice (sunnah), an act of drawing near to Allah, and obedience after the time has entered.
They are prayed in sets of two, two. This is the recommended practice (sunnah), based on his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Prayer by night and day should consist of pairs of rak'ahs.
Sunan Abi Dawud 1295Sahih (Al-Albani)
, meaning: two, two. This is the recommended practice (sunnah).
As for the four before the midday prayer and the four after it, the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) are included in them. The regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) preserved from him (peace and blessings be upon him) are four before the midday prayer and two after it. This came from the hadith of Aisha, the hadith of Umm Habibah, and other hadiths. The meaning is: two taslims before the midday prayer and one taslim after it.
It came in the hadith of Umm Habibah bint Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with her) from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
And in the narration of al-Khamsah, by her [Umm Habibah (RA)]: "Whoever prays regularly four Rak'at before and four Rak'at after the Zuhr prayer, Allah will forbid for him (from entering) the Hellfire."
Bulugh al-Maram 2:262
, and in another wording:
Whoever prays four before the midday prayer and four after it, Allah the Exalted will forbid him from the Fire.
. These eight include the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib). The six that are the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) are included in them. If one prays four before the midday prayer and four after it, the intended purpose is achieved: the regular voluntary prayers (rawatib) plus two additional rak'ahs. All of them contain great virtue and great good. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
