Dhikr Recited at the Two Ends of the Day

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
We move on to another topic via another message from the listener (Z. H.), who sent a number of questions. In his first question, he asks: What are the supplications that are made after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers? Please summarize them for us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is recommended for the believing man and woman to engage in dhikr and supplication at the beginning of the night and the beginning of the day, and this includes the evening, which is the end of the day, such as the time of 'Asr. It is recommended for the believer to increase in the remembrance of Allah at these times, because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) commanded His glorification and remembrance in the morning and evening. The evening is the end of the day, and the morning is the beginning of the day. So one should engage in what Allah has made easy for him of dhikr, such as:
There is no god but Allah, alone, without any partner. To Him belong the Kingdom and praise, and He has power over everythingلا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير
Muwatta Malik 20:131
, (Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah),
Subhan-Allah wa bi hamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-'Azim (Glory and praise is to Allah, glory is to Allah the Almighty)سبحان الله وبحمده، سبحان الله العظيم
Sunan Ibn Majah 3806Sahih (Darussalam)
, and similar appropriate supplications that came from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), or those that were made easy for him, which he memorized and supplicated with, and they are good. He supplicates with them at the beginning of the night and the beginning of the day. All of this is what should be done.
And among that is: if it is made easy for him to review the books written on this, such as Al-Adhkar by al-Nawawi, and such as Riyad al-Saliheen, and such as al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, and such as al-Wabil al-Sayyib by Ibn al-Qayyim, and similar books that benefit him and from which he benefits; then this is good.
And among that is: that he says at the beginning of the night:
‘Abdallah told that when evening came God’s messenger would say, "We have come to the evening, and in the evening the dominion belongs to God; praise be to God; there is no god but God alone who has no partner; to Him belongs the dominion, to Him praise is due, and He is omnipotent. O God, I ask Thee for something of the good of this night and the good of what it contains, and I seek refuge in Thee from its evil and the evil of what it contains. O God, I seek refuge in Thee from indolence, decrepitude, the evil of old age, temptation in this world, and the punishment in the grave." In the morning he said that also: "We have come to the morning, and in the morning the dominion belongs to God ..." A version has, "My Lord, I seek refuge in Thee from a punishment in hell and a punishment in the grave." Muslim transmitted it.
Mishkat al-Masabih 2381
,
O Allah, we enter the evening by You and we enter the morning by You and we live by You and we die by You and to You is the return.اللهم بك أمسينا وبك أصبحنا وبك نحيا وبك نموت وإليك المصير
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1199
, and similar to that which has been transmitted.
And similarly, he says in the morning the same, saying:
We have entered the morning and the dominion belongs to Allah, and praise is due to Allah, and there is no god but Allah alone, having no partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things competent. O Allah, I ask You for the good of this day and the good of what is in it and the good of what comes after it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of this day and the evil of what is in it and the evil of what comes after it. O my Lord, I seek refuge in You from laziness, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of old age, and I seek refuge in You from punishment in the Fire and punishment in the grave. (O Allah, by You we have entered the morning and by You we have entered the evening, and by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the resurrection)أصبحنا وأصبح الملك لله والحمد لله، ولا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له، له الملك وله الحمد وهو على كل شيء قدير، اللهم إني أسألك خير هذا اليوم وخير ما فيه وخير ما بعده، وأعوذ بك من شر هذا اليوم وشر ما فيه وشر ما بعده، رب إني أعوذ بك من الكسل، وأعوذ بك من سوء الكبر، وأعوذ بك من عذاب في النار وعذاب في القبر)، (اللهم بك أصبحنا وبك أمسينا وبك نحيا وبك نموت وإليك النشور
,
O Allah, I have entered the morning upon the fitrah of Islam, the word of sincerity, the religion of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the religion of our father Ibrahim (peace be upon him), an upright Muslim, and not one of the polytheistsاللهم إني أصبحت على فطرة الإسلام، وكلمة الإخلاص، ودين نبينا محمد ﷺ، وملة أبينا إبراهيم عليه الصلاة والسلام، حنيفًا مسلمًا وما كان من المشركين
.
All of these came through the Sunnah. And among that is:
Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyah fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal-'afwa wal-'afiyah fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahum-mastur 'awrati, wa amin raw'ati wahfazni min bayni yadayya, wa min khalfi, wa 'an yamini wa 'an shimali, wa min fawqi, wa 'audhu bika an ughtala min tahtiاللهم إني أسألك العافية في الدنيا والآخرة، اللهم إني أسألك العفو والعافية في ديني ودنياي وأهلي ومالي، اللهم استر عوراتي وآمن روعاتي، واحفظني من بين يدي ومن خلفي، وعن يميني وعن شمالي، ومن فوقي، وأعوذ بعظمتك أن أغتال من تحتي
Sunan Ibn Majah 3871Sahih (Darussalam)
. He (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate with this supplication in the morning and evening. And similarly, if he reviews these books that we mentioned earlier, he will benefit from them, because gathering them now and mentioning them now may take a long time. We ask Allah for success for everyone.

The presenter: O Allah, amen. May Allah reward you with good.
