The Manner of the Funeral Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How do we pray over the deceased? And what are the narrated supplications?

Answer:
You pray over him four times, four takbirs, and you are standing, you pray over him with your imam, you say takbir four times, you recite al-Fatihah after the first,
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds -الحَمْدُ للهِ رَبّ العَالَمِينَ
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
, [al-Fatihah:1] and whatever verses or short surahs are easy for you to recite with it, then you say takbir and you send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as you do in the prayer, then you say the third takbir and you supplicate for the deceased with whatever Allah has made easy, including:
O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our present and our absent, our young and our old, our male and our female. O Allah, whomever You keep alive among us, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever You cause to die among us, cause him to die upon faith. O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, grant him well-being and pardon him, honor his dwelling and widen his entrance, wash him with water, snow, and hail, and purify him from sins as a white garment is purified from dirt. O Allah, replace his home with a better home and his family with a better family. O Allah, admit him into Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave and from the punishment of the Fire, and widen for him in his grave and light for him thereinاللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا، وشاهدنا وغائبنا، وصغيرنا وكبيرنا، وذكرنا وأنثانا، اللهم من أحييته منا فأحيه على الإسلام، ومن توفيته منا فتوفه على الإيمان، اللهم اغفر له وارحمه، وعافه واعف عنه، وأكرم نزله، ووسع مدخله، واغسله بالماء والثلج والبرد، ونقه من الخطايا كما ينقى الثوب الأبيض من الدنس، اللهم أبدله دارًا خيرًا من داره، وأهلًا خيرًا من أهله، اللهم أدخله الجنة، وأعذه من عذاب القبر، ومن عذاب النار، ووسع له في قبره، ونور له فيه
including:
O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward, and do not let us go astray after himاللهم لا تحرمنا أجره، ولا تضلنا بعده
Sunan Ibn Majah 1498Hasan (Darussalam)
, and other than this from what has been transmitted, a person supplicates with this, and what is similar to it from the good supplications that have been transmitted, then he says the fourth takbir and says the salam to his right, he says the fourth takbir and remains silent for a little, then he says: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah to his right, this is the legislated manner of the funeral prayer.
This is if it is easy for him to do so, but if he missed it, he owes nothing for making it up; because it is a collective obligation, if a sufficient number of people perform it, it drops off the rest, it drops off the rest, but if he caught it, praise be to Allah, otherwise it suffices if one of the brothers performed it and that is enough, and if he caught part of it, he prays what he caught and makes up what he missed like the rest of the prayers, yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
