Question:
This questioner (A.A.M.) from the Post Institute says in this question: Your Eminence, I am a married man, and it happened that one of the sons committed a mistake while being tasked by his mother to carry some items to the house. When I intervened to handle the situation, a quarrel broke out between me and his mother, which made me angry at her behavior. So, in my anger, I said: "May Allah curse the one who gave you," or "May Allah curse the one who gave you." I have deeply regretted this, and I am not one who uses this wrong word, which is specific to Satan, not even with my children or my wife. But in that moment, my anger overtook me, and I said this. Is there a sin on me in my marital relationship with my wife from the legal perspective?
May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance. As for what follows:
There is no doubt that this speech is an abomination and a major sin. It is obligatory for you to repent to Allah from it, because it is cursing and insulting that is not befitting of you. Your saying, "May Allah curse the one who gave you," is of great danger, because this may refer to Allah, who is the Giver. This is a heinous abomination. If you intended by this the Lord, then this is apostasy from Islam. It is obligatory for you to repent to Allah, and whoever repents, Allah accepts his repentance. You must repent, feel regret, abandon it, and resolve not to return to it. You must also increase in righteous deeds, and be glad of good, if Allah wills. Whoever repents, Allah accepts his repentance. Allah the Exalted says: [Al-Zumar: 53]. And He the Exalted says: [An-Nur: 31]. So whoever repents has succeeded. So you must repent to Allah, feel regret, abandon it, increase in righteous deeds, and be glad of good, if Allah wills.
And your wife is with you, and this does not harm the marriage. Allah the Exalted said regarding those who associate partners with Allah, and those who kill their children or commit unlawful sexual intercourse: He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He):[Al-Furqan 25:68] يُضَاعَفْ لَهُ الْعَذَابُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيَخْلُدْ فِيهِ مُهَانًا [Al-Furqan: 68-69], meaning: the one who associates partners with Allah, the killer, and the one who commits unlawful sexual intercourse. Then He said: [Al-Furqan: 70]. So we ask Allah to grant you and every Muslim repentance, and we ask Allah to protect you from returning to such a thing. Yes.
The presenter: Your Eminence, this questioner says: When I said, "May Allah curse the one who gave you," I meant: his son, I mean the wife?
The Shaykh: In any case, it is an abomination whether you intended the wife or did not intend the wife. It is an abomination, so he must repent to Allah from it. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.
وَتُوبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا أَيُّهَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَAnd your wife is with you, and this does not harm the marriage. Allah the Exalted said regarding those who associate partners with Allah, and those who kill their children or commit unlawful sexual intercourse: He said, (Exalted and Majestic is He):
And those who do not invoke with Allah another deity or kill the soul which Allah has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
The presenter: Your Eminence, this questioner says: When I said, "May Allah curse the one who gave you," I meant: his son, I mean the wife?
