The time for slaughtering the 'Id sacrifice and the defects that render it invalid

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
They are asking about the 'Id sacrifice: When does one say the takbir for the animal being slaughtered on the festival? When is it slaughtered? Is it valid to keep it for a week, or is it slaughtered immediately on that day, or how is that? And what are the conditions of the sacrificial animal, given that some may be lame, or blind, or old in age? What is the ruling on that?
Please inform us about these topics. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The sunnah (recommended practice) when slaughtering is to say: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest," whether it is for the 'Id sacrifice or for food. In all times, the one slaughtering says when he moves his hand to slaughter: "In the name of Allah, and Allah is the Greatest." This is the sunnah.
As for the 'Id sacrifice, it is slaughtered over four days: the day of the festival, the day of the Festival of Sacrifice, and the three days following it. Four days in total. All four are days of slaughter according to the correct opinion of the scholars. They are all days of slaughter: the day of the festival, the eleventh, the twelfth, and the thirteenth, until the setting of the sun. These four days are all days of slaughter.
As for the 'Id sacrifice that is valid, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) specified it. He said, (peace and blessings be upon him):
Four are not permissible in the 'Id sacrifices: the one whose blindness is obvious, the one whose lameness is obvious, the one whose illness is obvious, and the emaciated one that is not pure.
It must not be one that is not pure, it must not be one that has no marrow, it must not be emaciated and weak. These four are not valid for the 'Id sacrifices, nor for the gifts during the time of Hajj, nor for the 'aqiqah (sacrifice for a newborn), which is slaughtered for the newborn on the seventh day. None of these are valid with these defects. Four, he said, (peace and blessings be upon him):
Four (types of animals) should be avoided in sacrifice: A One-eyed animal which has obviously lost the sight of one eye
Sunan Abi Dawud 2802Sahih (Al-Albani)
As for if its blindness is not obvious, there is something in its eye but it is not obvious, it does not harm and does not prevent.
And the one whose lameness is obvious.
As for if its lameness is slight, it is excused.
The one whose illness is obvious.
If its illness is slight and not obvious, it is excused.
The emaciated one that is not pure.
It must not be one that is not pure, meaning: emaciated and weak in strength, emaciated due to the absence of marrow in it. These four are not valid for the 'Id sacrifices, nor for the gifts during the time of Hajj, nor for the 'aqiqah for the newborn, nor for vows. If one vows to slaughter a sheep or a cow or the like, it must be free from these defects.
And there is a fifth type, which is the one whose horn or ear is mostly gone. The correct opinion is that it is not valid, because it is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) the prohibition of the 'Id sacrifice with the one whose horn or ear is mostly gone, or whose entire horn and entire ear are gone. This is the fifth. And Allah is the guarantor of success. Yes.
