The ruling on one who breaks his fast in Ramadan due to extreme thirst

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: When I was in the second year of secondary school during the month of Ramadan, and it was during the exam period, when I returned home I felt extreme thirst, so I drank water. Should I fast that day, or should I feed poor people and fast another day in its place?

Answer:
You must abstain from eating and drinking for the rest of the day, and you must make up that day. You must continue abstaining after drinking, you must continue abstaining, and you must make up the day afterwards without feeding anyone, but rather by hastening to make it up. And praise be to Allah.
However, you are not permitted to drink except in cases of extreme thirst where you fear death or illness from it. As for thirst that can be endured, you are not permitted to drink until the sun sets in Ramadan, in the case of obligatory fasting. But if the thirst becomes severe and you fear for your life from illness or death, there is no harm, but after drinking you must continue abstaining until the sun sets, and then you must make up that day.

The presenter: May Allah reward you.
