Breaking the fast intentionally due to thirst

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 14230 )
Q1: A woman says that she broke her fast for two or three days of Ramadan when she was fifteen years old, meaning: when she reached maturity, and the reason for that was that she was extremely thirsty, so she broke her fast, and she did not know the greatness of the sin for one who breaks the fast intentionally.
And she has not made up the fasts until now, and her current age is fifty years. She has repented for what happened to her and asks your Eminence: Does she have to make up the fasts, or what should she do?

A1: It is obligatory for the woman mentioned to make up the days she broke her fast for from Ramadan while she was of age, along with paying an expiation to a poor person for each day, the amount being half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of dates, wheat, or the like of the country's staple food. This is because she delayed making up the fasts until another Ramadan caught up with her without an excuse.
Q2: She says that she was afflicted with diabetes recently in her life, and if she fasts in Ramadan, bleeding occurs from the roof of her mouth and the surrounding area of her mouth, and it is not a lot. She fears that some of it may leak into her stomach while she is sleeping during the day. Please inform us what she should do in this regard, and whether she owes anything as a result of that. May Allah reward you.
A2: If blood comes down from the throat of the woman mentioned while she is fasting, she must spit it out and take precautions to prevent it from entering her stomach as much as she is able. If it comes down from her throat into her stomach while she is sleeping without her choice, that does not harm her, and the fast is valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
