Zakat on Worn Gold

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is there zakat on gold that is worn, or not?
Please inform us. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If the gold that is worn, or silver, reaches the nisab, then zakat is due on it according to the stronger of the scholars' opinions. There is disagreement among the scholars on this; some held that zakat is due on it, and others held that it is not. The correct view, which we issue as a ruling, is that it is subject to zakat if it reaches the nisab, whether it is bracelets, necklaces, or anything else. If gold or silver reaches the nisab, it is subject to zakat: twenty-five out of a thousand, which is a quarter of a tenth. This is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a bracelet on a woman and said:
Do you give the zakah of this?أتعطين زكاة هذا؟
She said: No. He said:
Are you pleased that Allah may put two bangles of fire on your hands?أيسرك أن يسورك الله بهما يوم القيامة بسوارين من نار
Sunan Abi Dawud 1563Hasan (Al-Albani)
So she threw them away and said: "They are for Allah and His Messenger." Umm Salama, the Mother of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with her), used to wear gold ornaments. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, is this a treasure?" He said:
Whatever reaches the amount where zakah is due, if zakah is paid on it, it is not a treasure.ما بلغ أن يزكى فزكي فليس بكنز
He did not say to her: "There is no zakat on jewelry." Rather, if it reaches the nisab, it is subject to zakat. If it is not paid, it becomes a treasure; it will be heated up and its owner will be tortured with it.
The point is: the stronger view is that gold and silver jewelry, if it reaches the nisab and a lunar year passes over it, is subject to zakat.
The nisab is twenty mithqals of gold, which is eleven and a half Saudi pounds, and of silver: one hundred and forty mithqals, meaning fifty-six silver riyals, or its equivalent. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good, and may He do you good.
