The ruling on consecutive fasting for one who vowed to fast a month

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
She says: I vowed to fast one month every year for three months. Is it obligatory for me to fast the month consecutively, without interruption? Or is it permissible to fast it intermittently, as long as the important thing is fasting thirty days? And if it is not permissible to fast it intermittently, is there an expiation I should pay? Because I fasted a month this year, but not consecutively, even though I am not certain about my vow: whether it was consecutive or not? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If you do not know that you intended consecutiveness, then fasting thirty days is sufficient, even if they are scattered. Consecutiveness is better, but if it is not feasible, the thirty days suffice, and praise be to Allah. That is to say: fasting the thirty days is sufficient—if Allah wills—unless you stipulated consecutiveness, or intended consecutiveness with certainty. As for doubt, consecutiveness is not obligatory upon you, and what you did of fasting is sufficient, and praise be to Allah.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
