The ruling on fasting a month in separate days for one who vowed to fast it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Finally, our sister asks and says: I vowed to fast a month. Is it permissible for me to fast it on separate days?

Answer:
It depends on the intention. If the intention is continuity, then the fast is to be consecutive. If you intended a month in general, the best is to keep it consecutive, because the norm for a month is that it is consecutive. If you separate the days, there is no blame on you, but the best is to keep them consecutive. However, if you did not intend continuity, and you said, "Thirty days," without saying "a month," or you said, "Twenty days," then continuity is not required.
As for if you intended continuity and said, "Twenty days," meaning you intended them to be consecutive, or if you intended a month to be consecutive, then continuity is obligatory, acting in accordance with the intention, for actions are by intentions. But if you did not intend continuity, then if you named it a month, continuity is the best, because a characteristic of a month is that it is consecutive. If you separate the days, there is no blame on you, if Allah wills, because the intention is considered, and there is no intention [of continuity]. Yes. And the term "month" is used for thirty days. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
