The listener is Abdul Hamid Ahmad. His message contains two questions. In his first question, he says: Before my travel, my mother gave me five hundred pounds as a loan. After I had been away for a period, and while I was outside my country, I learned that Allah had chosen her to be with Him. What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding this amount? I have a sister whose husband has passed away, and she supports many children. Should I give her the amount, or what is the ruling? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
You and your sister should divide it according to the division of Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He), if the mother has no heirs other than you and your sister. Then this amount is between you two
for the male, what is equal to the share of two femalesلِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الأُنثَيَيْنِ
[Surat al-Nisa: 11], unless she waives her right in your favor, and she is a guide. Yes.
