Is it permissible for a woman to visit her husband's grave?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a question from a woman from the district of al-Shirqat in Iraq. She says: My mother goes to my father's grave every Friday. Is this permissible or not?

Answer:
The correct opinion among the scholars is that visiting graves is specific to men, and that women do not visit graves; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed those who visit graves. Initially, he prohibited visiting graves absolutely for both men and women, then he granted a dispensation to everyone—(peace and blessings be upon him)—because of the remembrance of the Hereafter in visiting them, and because of the kindness to the deceased by making du'a for them. Then the Shari'ah settled on prohibiting women from visiting, and legislating it for men. He said—(peace and blessings be upon him)—
Visit the graves, for they will remind you of the Hereafter.زوروا القبور؛ فإنها تذكركم الآخرة
Sunan Ibn Majah 1569Sahih (Darussalam)
and in another wording
They remind you of deathتذكركم الموت
So visiting contains benefits such as reminding oneself of the Hereafter, reminding oneself of death, having little interest in this world, making du'a for the dead, and seeking mercy for them. But this is in the case of men.
As for women, they do not visit graves. This is the correct opinion, this is the right one. They do not visit graves due to the final prohibition, and because he (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed those who visit graves. Also, there is danger in their visiting, because they are a fitnah (trial/temptation), and it may cause fitnah for the male visitors, and it may also cause fitnah for her herself due to her intense grief and lack of patience, except for whom Allah has mercy.
So the point is: that visiting graves is specific to men, not women, in the most correct of the scholars' opinions. Therefore, the questioner's mother should not visit her father's grave, nor any other grave. Rather, she should make du'a for him in her home, and in every place she should make du'a for him for forgiveness and mercy. If he died upon Islam, and praise be to Allah, that is sufficient. She should make du'a for him for forgiveness and mercy, and give charity on his behalf. All of this is good. As for her visiting his grave, no, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited women from doing that. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with the best reward.
