The Narrated Supplications That It Is Recommended to Make

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
One of the listeners, Hamadah Abd al-Rahman, sent a message asking and saying: What are the recommended supplications that it is recommended for the one praying to make when praying the Fajr prayer? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
One should supplicate with what Allah has made easy for him. The one praying and the one not praying should supplicate with what Allah has made easy for him of good supplications in the morning, at the end of the prayer, at the end of the tashahhud, and in any prayer, in all prayers, and in prostration as well, and at the end of the night, and between the adhan and the iqamah, one should supplicate with what Allah has made easy for him. And if he memorizes supplications from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that is better than others. He should review books of supplications, such as al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib by al-Hafiz al-Mundhiri, such as Bulugh al-Maram, at the end of which are supplications mentioned from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), such as Riyad al-Salihin; he should review the supplications in it, and likewise review books of hadith that contain supplications—the supplications of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—and use them and memorize them. Al-Wabil al-Sayyib by Ibn al-Qayyim, al-Kalim al-Tayyib by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah; he should review these beneficial books and memorize the supplications in them, such as:
Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa, fa'fu 'anni (O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me)اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني
Sunan Ibn Majah 3850Sahih (Darussalam)
This is among the most comprehensive supplications to which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) directed. For example, he should say in his prostration:
O Lord, forgive me all my sins, small and great, first and last, open and secret.
Sahih Muslim 483
This is from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); a person supplicates with it. Likewise, from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the overwhelming of the enemy. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of trial, from the arrival of misery, from the evil of decree, and from the gloating of enemies. O Allah, rectify for me my religion, which is the safeguard of my affair, and rectify for me my worldly life, in which is my sustenance, and rectify for me my Hereafter, in which is my return. And make life an increase for me in every good, and make death a rest for me from every evil.
This is from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And his supplications are many, peace and blessings be upon him, but this is among the most comprehensive of them.
O Allah, set right for me my religion which is the safeguard of my affairs. And set right for me the affairs of my world wherein is my living. And set right for me my Hereafter on which depends my after-life. And make the life for me (a source) of abundance for every good and make my death a source of comfort for me protecting me against every evil.
Sahih Muslim 2720
This was narrated by Muslim in his Sahih from Abu Hurayrah, from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And from his supplication:
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dain, wa ghalabatil-'aduwwi, wa shamatatil-a'da'. (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from being overwhelmed with debt, from being overpowered by the enemy and from the enemy rejoicing over my misfortunes.)
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5475Hasan (Darussalam)
,
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of trial, from the arrival of misery, from the evil of decree, and from the gloating of enemies. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from leprosy, from cowardice and stinginess, from sin and debt, and from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
All of these are great supplications.
O Allah, give us good in this world, and good in the Hereafter, and spare us the punishment of the Fire
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3487Sahih (Darussalam)
This is from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and his supplications are many—O Allah, send blessings and peace upon him.
And from the supplication of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
O Allah, forgive me my faults, my ignorance, my immoderation in my concerns. And Thou art better aware (of my affairs) than myself. O Allah, grant me forgiveness (of the faults which I committed) seriously or otherwise (and which I committed inadvertently and de- liberately. All these (failings) are in me.
Sahih Muslim 2719a
,
O Allah, grant me forgiveness from the fault which I did in haste or deferred, which I committed in privacy or in public and Thou art better aware of (them) than myself. Thou art the First and the Last and over all things Thou art Omnipotent.
Sahih Muslim 2719a
And whoever reviews the books of hadith will find many things like this. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
