Is it permissible to perform Hajj on behalf of a living person?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on performing Hajj on behalf of a living person?

Answer:
If the living person is unable and cannot do it, there is nothing wrong with it, as in the hadith of al-Khath'amiah and Abu Razin, where she said: "Her father is an old man who cannot perform Hajj or travel," and Abu Razin said: "He is an old man who cannot stay on the mount."
This person performs Hajj on his behalf, whether as an obligatory or voluntary act. As for the one who is able, Hajj is not performed on his behalf; he must perform it himself, even if it is voluntary. This is the stronger position.
