The Meaning of the Hadith: "No One Will Remain After a Hundred Years"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
It is reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said on a certain night:
Have you seen this night of yours? Indeed, after a hundred years, no one who is on the face of the earth will remain.أرأيتُم ليلتكم هذه؟ فإنه بعد مئة سنةٍ لا يبقى ممن على وجه الأرض أحد
, or as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said. And in the story of the spy in Muslim: Tamim al-Dari saw the Dajjal waiting to be permitted to emerge.
How do we reconcile the statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
No one will remain after a hundred years.لا يبقينَّ بعد مئة سنةٍ أحدٌ
with the fact that the Dajjal has been alive from that time until today?

Answer:
The hadith is valid, and the intended meaning of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is that the generation will be cut off—as the Companions said—and that no one who is on the face of the earth at that time will remain after a hundred years, meaning: they will die.
As for the hadith of the Dajjal: it is from the category of the specific, from the category of specificity, so it does not contradict this; because the texts contain both the specific and the general. This is general, except for the report of the Dajjal.
