The ruling on what is called the "Sacrifice of the Dead" on the night of 'Arafah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Some people slaughter an animal on the night of 'Arafah and call it the "Sacrifice of the Dead." What is its ruling?

Answer:
The sacrifice on the night of 'Arafah has no basis; we do not know of any basis for it. However, if they slaughter with the intention that it is a great day for charity, then the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are all great and virtuous days. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than those ten daysما من أيامٍ العمل الصالح فيهنَّ أحبّ إلى الله من هذه الأيام
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 757Sahih (Darussalam)
meaning: the ten days. They said: "Not even jihad in the cause of Allah, O Messenger of Allah?" He said:
Not even jihad in the cause of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his person and his wealth and then returns from that with nothingولا الجهاد في سبيل الله، إلا رجلٌ خرج بنفسه وماله ثم لم يرجع من ذلك بشيءٍ
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 7:345
. This is how it came in the hadith of Ibn 'Abbas in al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him).
And in the hadith of Ibn 'Umar in Ahmad and others, from the Prophet (peace be upon him), he said:
There are no days greater with Allah, nor in which deeds are more beloved than these ten days, so increase in them the glorification, praise, and magnification of Allahما من أيام أعظم عند الله ولا أحبّ العمل فيهنَّ من هذه الأيام العشر، فأكثروا فيهنَّ من التَّهليل والتَّحميد والتَّكبير
, and in another wording:
and the glorificationومن التَّسبيح
.
So they are great days. If one slaughters on the Day of 'Arafah or on some of the other days to give in charity, not believing that this day is specific or that it is a special act of worship, no, but rather because of the general virtue, meaning: it is a great and virtuous day, then if he slaughters on the Day of 'Arafah and gives in charity, or on the eighth day, or the seventh, or the sixth, or on the first day, just as one slaughters in Ramadan for these virtuous days and gives in charity, there is nothing wrong with it.
