Ruling on Giving from Charity to the People of the House

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
A man has a wife from the People of the House, and he receives a regular share of charity. Does she eat from it, or what should she do?

Answer:
If it reaches him, it has reached its proper place, so there is nothing wrong with giving from it to the People of the House, just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reported:
It is an object of charity for Barira, and it is a present for us.هو عليها صدقة، ولنا هدية
Sahih al-Bukhari 5097
from Umm Atiyyah, and from Barirah. If the charity—zakah—reaches its rightful recipients, they may give from it to the People of the House as a gift, or invite them to a meal, and there is nothing wrong with that; because it has reached its proper place.
