Ruling on giving voluntary charity to a poor person from the People of the House?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : It is well known that voluntary charity is not permissible for one who claims descent from the People of the House.

The Shaykh : How?

The questioner : One who claims descent from the People of the House

The Shaykh : Ah

The questioner : Voluntary charity is not permissible for him.

The Shaykh : Yes, that is right.

The questioner : Suppose I am a descendant of the People of the House, and a person comes to me and gives me a specific need. He did not say to me, "This is a gift" or "This is charity," but I felt that, because my situation is weak or moderate, this man gave me this thing as charity, even though he did not say so. Should I take this need from him or not?

The Shaykh : If your feeling is that it is charity, do not take it. That is the meaning of the answer.

The questioner : By Allah, you have explained it well, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Do you know that 'Umar ibn al-Khattab had opinions according to which the Qur'an would be revealed?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : That is it. Then he had a son, 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar, who was among the most God-fearing of the Companions. He had a wife whom he loved, but his father disliked her, so he ordered him to divorce her.
So he went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, my father orders me to divorce my wife." He said to him, "Obey your father." فذهب إلىى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وقال له يا رسول الله إن أبي يأمرني بأن أطلق زوجتي فقال له أطع أباك
I am often asked by a young man who is married and doing well, happy with his wife, but his father or mother is not happy and orders him to divorce her. What should I do? I am torn between my father and my wife, between my mother and my wife. Should I divorce her or not? I say, I cannot tell you to divorce or not to divorce, but I tell you: if your father is like 'Umar, divorce her. Do you understand?

The questioner : Yes, that is right.

The Shaykh : Others, yes. All right, have you not finished? It is eight-thirty now. Quiet, we closed the door.
