The ruling on one who breaks his fast at the airport and then sees the sun in the air

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner says: My mother and I traveled to perform the lesser pilgrimage (Umrah) in Ramadan, and it was the time for the sunset prayer (Maghrib). When we boarded the plane, the pilot said: "No one should break their fast until we are level in the air." Ten minutes passed after the call to prayer (adhan), so I broke my fast. When the plane took off, we saw that the sun had not set. What is the ruling on our fasting for that day? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
If you broke your fast at the airport after the sun had set, that is sufficient, even if the sun rises while you are on the plane; your day is complete. However, if you take off during the day, you must continue abstaining until the sun sets from your view on the plane. As for if you take off after the sun has set, you have broken your fast.
