Explaining Some of the Wisdom of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Raising His Companions

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh:
He said: Make a supplication
He said to him - peace and blessings be upon him - and this is part of his wisdom in raising his Companions - peace and blessings be upon him - and I hope you will pay attention to this point. He did not say to him, "There is nothing on you, go, I will just make a supplication for you." No, he wanted to occupy him with worship and obedience, and this is a prescribed means.
He said to him: Go to the ablution place, perform wudu', and pray two rak'ahs for Allah, then say
What I want to draw your attention to now is that the Prophet - may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him - did not limit himself to making a supplication for him, but he also occupied him with prayer and obedience. This is a style we know from him - may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him - in more than one incident, story, or case. For example, there was that Companion who used to guard him - peace and blessings be upon him - at night, or stay by the door of his chamber at night, in case the Prophet - may Allah's prayers and blessings be upon him - would wake up at night and need something, and he would not find anyone in the pitch-black night to attend to his need. So he positioned himself there as a servant to the Messenger, in case he might need something at night. And the Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him - is the best person to appreciate the service of his Companions to him - peace and blessings be upon him -. So one day he said to him:
O so-and-so يا فلان
I remember his name was Ka'b.
The student: Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b.

The Shaykh: Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b, well done. Rabi'ah ibn Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him). He said to him - peace and blessings be upon him - one day:
O so-and-so, make a request of me
The man was intelligent and shrewd. He was eager to make a request to the Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him -. He told him to make a request, but he was wise.
Messenger of Allah, to others than us ?
Sunan Abi Dawud 2394Sahih (Al-Albani)
He started to think, he wanted to know what the request would be. A solid request?
So he came to him and said to him, meaning: O Messenger of Allah, I have thought about the matter and found that this world is transient, and I found that people in the Hereafter will be a group in Paradise and a group in the blazing Fire, and the people of Paradise have degrees. So I request that you make a supplication for me that my Lord make me your companion in Paradise.
Is this solid thinking or not? What Allah willed. The point is, he did not say to him - peace and blessings be upon him - "You have that" as he did with the blind man.
He said to him: You have that, but help me with yourself by prostrating frequently
; meaning, don't just go put your feet in cold water and that's it, ... you have Paradise.
You have that, but help me with that by prostrating frequently
.
