Conditions for the Acceptance of Supplication
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: This dhikr and this du'a' are a weapon you describe for every believer. Do you stipulate other conditions for the one who carries this weapon?
A: Yes, among the greatest conditions is trust in Allah, belief in Him and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and faith that Allah is the Truth and that He does not say anything but the truth. It also includes sincerity to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and following His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), along with the belief that the Messenger (may Allah send prayers and peace upon him) conveyed the truth, that he is truthful in what he says, and that one acts upon this with faith and trust in Allah, with desire for what is with Him. One must believe that He (Glorified and Exalted is He) is the Manager of affairs and the Disposer of things, and that He is the All-Abler of everything , not out of doubt or bad opinion, but out of good opinion of Allah and trust in Him. One must also believe that if the desired outcome is delayed, it is for one of the aforementioned reasons or others. The servant must fulfill the causes, while Allah is the Creator of the causes, and He is the Wise, the All-Knowing.
The cure may be obtained, but the ailment may not be removed due to other reasons that the servant is unaware of, and Allah is Wise in that (Glorified and Exalted is He). This includes both physical and spiritual cures. The physical cure is what doctors provide through medicines, surgeries, and the like. The spiritual cure is what is achieved through du'a', recitation, and other lawful causes. Despite all this, the desired outcome may be delayed for many reasons, including heedlessness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and sins, especially consuming what is forbidden. It is authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:.
Through this, the believing man and woman know that their response may be postponed to the Hereafter for reasons necessitated by the wisdom of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). It may also be that much evil is averted from them by the causes of their du'a' instead of being granted their request. And Allah is the Wise, the All-Knowing in His actions, His words, His Shari'ah, and His divine decree, as He (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Al-An'am: 128], and success is from Allah.

No servant calls upon Allah with a supplication that contains no sin or severing of family ties, but that Allah will give him one of three things: either his supplication is hastened for him in this world, or it is stored for him in the Hereafter, or He averts from him an evil equal to it. They said, "O Messenger of Allah, if we do a lot?" He said, "Allah is more."
Through this, the believing man and woman know that their response may be postponed to the Hereafter for reasons necessitated by the wisdom of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He).
