Ruling on making up the prayer for one who abandoned it intentionally

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: He also asks and says: What is the ruling regarding the prayers that I have missed? Do I have to make them up, or what should I do? Because I heard a hadith from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
If a prayer is missed and one does not know how many, let him stand on the last Friday of Ramadan and pray four rak'ahs, and seek forgiveness from Allah afterwards.
Is this authentic? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
The answer: It is not authentic and has no basis. However, he must make up the prayers if he left them due to forgetfulness, or for reasons of illness where he believes it is permissible for him to delay them, or due to sleep; in that case, he makes them up.
As for if he intentionally left the prayer, and then Allah turned to him in repentance, he does not make them up; because intentionally leaving it is disbelief, and a disbeliever does not make up prayers. This is the correct view regarding leaving the prayer: if he left it, even if out of negligence rather than denial, he commits disbelief by doing so. However, if he left the prayer intentionally and denied its obligation, this is disbelief according to all scholars. But if he acknowledges its obligation, knows that it is obligatory upon him, but left it out of negligence and laziness, there is a dispute among the scholars. The correct and stronger view in this issue is that it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah), so he does not make up what he left intentionally out of negligence. As for what he left due to illness where he thought it was permissible for him to delay, or what he left due to forgetfulness or sleep, he makes that up, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Whoever sleeps through the prayer or forgets it, let him pray it when he remembers it. There is no expiation for it except that.
.
As for the one who leaves it intentionally out of negligence, he is the one who does not make it up, and he must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He); because intentionally leaving it out of negligence is major shirk, and a disbeliever must repent. And when he repents, he does not make it up, based on His saying (Glorified and Exalted is He):
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for themقُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ يَنتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ
[Al-Anfal: 38] and based on His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Islam wipes out all the previous (misdeeds)? Verily migration wipes out all the previous (misdeeds),
Sahih Muslim 121
It is also authentic from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
The covenant that distinguishes between us and them is prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr.
Sunan Ibn Majah 1079Sahih (Darussalam)
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The head of the matter is Islam, and its pillar is the Salat, and its hump is Jihad
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2616Hasan (Darussalam)
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said:
Between a man and disbelief and shirk (associating partners with Allah) is the abandonment of prayer.
.
Muslim recorded it in his Sahih, may Allah have mercy on him.
These texts, along with what has come in their meaning, all indicate that one who deliberately leaves off the prayer out of negligence and laziness, rather than due to an excuse such as sleep or an illness where he believes it justifies delaying it, or out of forgetfulness, is a disbeliever. The one who forgets, the one who is sleeping, and the sick person who believes he is permitted to delay it must make up the prayer. As for the one who does it deliberately and is lax, he does not make it up, and he must repent to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes.
