Question:
Is there an authentic hadith indicating the existence of a prayer to prevent the forgetting of the Qur'an, O Shaykh?
Answer:
I do not know of anything in that regard. I say: I do not know of anything in that regard. Yes.
It is only supplication. One asks his Lord, a person asks his Lord that Allah will help him and grant him success in memorizing the Book of Allah. He asks his Lord. It is narrated from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), but it is a weak hadith.
The point is: he asks his Lord and humbles himself to Allah that He will preserve him in the Qur'an, and help him to memorize the Qur'an and act upon it. He humbles himself to Allah. Allah says: [Ghafir:60] (Glorified and Exalted is He), Yes.
