Guidance for one whose husband's relatives mistreat her

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a woman calling into the program. She says that her husband's relatives, who are her kin, have been mistreating her—she says—through suspicion, injustice, and hatred for several years. They speak about me to near and far, which causes me great pain. This questioner mentions and says: What I want to ask about is whether I am sinful if I cut off contact with them and stay away from them as much as possible; this is within their community, even though when I meet them, I smile in their faces and welcome them, while they are the opposite. I do not know the reason for this hatred toward me?
Even though my husband is kind and honors them with the best honor, and they do not appreciate this. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
We advise you to be patient, and you are to be thanked. We advise you to be patient with their harm, and take good news, for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him.ليس الواصل بالمكافي، ولكن الواصل الذي إذا قطعت رحمه وصلها
Sahih al-Bukhari 5991
So we advise you to be patient, and to supplicate for their guidance, and you say: O Allah, protect me from their evil, O Allah, protect me from their evil, O Allah, guide them, O Allah, protect me from their evil. You address them with the best manner, with cheerfulness, kind words, and supplication for their success and guidance. You are on the right path, and take good news; for the one who maintains ties is the one who maintains his kinship even if they cut it off. This is the complete one who maintains ties. As al-Bukhari narrated in the Sahih, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him.ليس الواصل بالمكافي، ولكن الواصل الذي إذا قطعت رحمه وصلها
Sahih al-Bukhari 5991
A man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have relatives whom I maintain ties with, but they cut me off. I do good to them, but they do evil to me. I am patient with them, but they are ignorant toward me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
If you are as you say, it is as if you are pouring molten lead upon them.لئن كنت كما قلت لكأنما تسفهم المل
meaning: the heated ashes
there would always remain with you on behalf of Allah (an Angel to support you) who would keep you dominant over them so long as you adhere to this (path of righteousness).ولا يزال معك من الله ظهير عليهم ما دمت على ذلك
Sahih Muslim 2558a
So take good news and be patient. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you, Your Eminence, for this blessed guidance.
