What is the ruling on using contraceptives due to low income?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
His second question says: Is it permissible to use a contraceptive because of my low financial income, which does not meet our living needs, in addition to my poor health, and the fatigue and sleeplessness I suffer from? I fear that this will increase when the children multiply. Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
It is not permissible to take what prevents pregnancy out of fear of financial hardship, for Allah is the Provider . This resembles the conditions of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance, when they used to kill their children out of fear of poverty. Rather, it is obligatory to have good opinion of Allah and to rely upon Him . He is the Great Provider (Exalted and Majestic is He), and He is the One who said :
And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provisionوَمَا مِنْ دَابَّةٍ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اللَّهِ رِزْقُهَا
[Hud:6] Therefore, it is obligatory for the husband and wife to have good opinion of Allah and not to take a contraceptive.
As for if the contraceptive is for another reason, such as the mother’s illness, or because it harms her health and her womb, or because there is fear for her from it, or because the children have multiplied—since she is carrying one after another without a break—and she wants to take the contraceptive for a short period, such as a year or two, so that raising the children does not become too difficult for her, and so that she does not become unable to do so, then there is no harm for the benefit of the children, not out of bad opinion of Allah , or out of her own harm and her own inability.
As for what concerns sustenance, the Provider is Allah, whether you are sick or healthy; it is Allah who provides for them and in His hand is the management of affairs (Exalted and Majestic is He). So you must have good opinion of Allah, and you must have trust in Allah. Allah is the Provider , the Possessor of enduring strength (Exalted and Majestic is He). Yes.
