The Meaning of {UNTIL THE WHITE THREAD...}

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This questioner says: Allah the Exalted said in His Noble Book:
So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset.
[Surat al-Baqarah: 187] What is the white thread and what is the black thread? And how is that known, especially if there is light in the city and there is a lot of light there?
Please inform us about this.

Answer:
What is meant by that is the dawn and the night. The white thread is the light of the dawn, and the black is the darkness of the night. So when the dawn becomes clear, the fasting person abstains from eating and drinking, and the time for the Fajr prayer enters. The thread is a reference to the dawn and the night.
So the believer eats and drinks while fasting until this becomes clear, and he does not pray the obligatory prayer until the white thread of the dawn becomes distinct from the black thread of the night. And if that is determined by the calculation of hours in a precise manner, that is beneficial and sufficient. But if one is in a place where the dawn can be seen, he should look for the dawn, like one who is traveling on land, or the people of the desert, or the villages that do not have lights; they may see the dawn easily.
